Improving Oil Recovery Efficiency in Niger Delta Reservoirs Using Corn Starch as a Local Polymer

Polymer flooding is a chemical enhanced oil recovery method that improves the of by controlling mobility water to phase. It uses polymer solutions increase viscosity displacing thereby decreasing water/oil ratio (Speight, 2013). The volumetric and displacement sweep efficiencies are positively affected flooding. aqueous phase increased due molecular size structure used. main objective this research was study ability cornstarch (local polymer) recover additional after conventional successfully achieved injecting four different unconsolidated samples (sand pack) with solution at varying concentration 500ppm, 1000ppm, 3000ppm, 9000ppm. From results experiment conducted, it deduced Cornstarch has an volume about half recovered during (i.e. if 50% initially in place flooding, can 25% residual flooding). Also, higher concentrations reduce factor adsorption on rock surfaces which alters wettability. To effect Cornstarch, recommended be measured experiments for better understanding mechanism cornstarch.
